ABOUT ALDENVILLE RUG CLEANING

A family owned and operated business since 1938, Aldenville Rug Cleaning cares about its customers and its community. Our history is tied to the community for three generations.

My grandfather Phillip Lachowetz immigrated to the United States from Russia prior to 1915. He worked as a window cleaner for a local company (no longer in business). At the age of 21 in 1938, my father, Andrew J. Lachowetz, created his own window cleaning company (City Window Cleaning Company) and my grandfather began working for my dad. Over the years, services were added to include venetian blind cleaning, rug and carpet cleaning and floor stripping and waxing. As time went on janitorial services were added for commercial businesses and government offices. I joined the family business upon graduating from Holyoke High School in 1973 and while attending Western New England College. I began shampooing carpets using a rotary scrubber and vacuum out of the trunk of my car, fulfilling our commercial contracts. Personally working with customers has helped me to understand what they expect from our company.

In 1976 the janitorial services were spun off as a separate entity (City Janitorial Services, Inc.) and incorporated with my Dad as President and me as Treasurer. My older brother, Andrew F. Lachowetz, continued to run the window cleaning company eventually bringing his son, Jeffery Lachowetz, into work with him.

At the time of its inception Aldenville Rug Cleaning was a wholly owned subsidiary of City Janitorial Services, Inc. in 1976 and was formed to exclusively service our own commercial accounts.

As business grew we purchased our first truck mount from HydraMaster in 1977. Once the commitment was made to expand capacity we began to advertise to the residential market. Business grew by leaps and bounds until the residential carpet services began to catch up to the commercial cleaning business. Dad retired to Florida in 1980 and by 1984 I had made the decision to focus 100% on the carpet and upholstery cleaning business.

So here we sit today, having run direct drive, slide in and trailer mounted truck mounts, with more than 38,000 service visits completed. We are honored to be a part of the community and look forward to offering our services for your home, boat, aircraft, or business.

My wife Mary Lee and I have been happily married more than 33 years and live in South Hadley since 1979. We share our home with Wyatt, our rescued Border Collie who is our pride and joy.
